Editing or Withdrawing a Recommendation You've Written

How do I edit or withdraw a recommendation I've written for another LinkedIn member?

Recommendations you've written for others can be withdrawn or revised from the Sent Recommendations page.

To withdraw a recommendation:
  1. Move your cursor over your photo in the top right of your homepage and select Privacy and Settings.
    • You may be prompted to sign in to your account.
  2. From the Profile tab towards the bottom of the page, go to the Helpful Links section and click Manage your recommendations.
  3. Click the Given tab.
  4. Click Edit next to the recommendation.
  5. Click the Withdraw this recommendation link under the member's name near the top.
  6. Click Confirm.

Note: The recipient will not be notified if you withdraw your recommendation. It is simply removed from their profile.

To revise a recommendation:

  1. Move your cursor over your photo in the top right of your homepage and select Privacy and Settings.
    • You may be prompted to sign in to your account.
  2. From the Profile tab towards the bottom of the page, go to the Helpful Links section and click Manage your recommendations.
  3. Click the Given tab.
  4. Click Edit next to the recommendation.
  5. Make your changes in the dropdown menus and text box.
  6. Click the view/edit link near the bottom to review or edit the message to be sent with the recommendation.
  7. Click Send.

Note: It's up to the recipient of the recommendation to approve your changes, and decide whether to display the updated recommendation on their profile.
